And off we go

After a substantial breakfast we finally got our act together and left the hotel around 830AM. Lovely morning, clear blue sky with a gentle breeze.



Before I go too much further I have to show you the flight deck of the Starship Enterprise - Simon has it set up like a mini traveling office...




Thats, from bottom to top a cycle computer, a Garmin and then the stand for his iphone that he is using to navigate (we will come back to this soon). He has a truly impressive carbon footprint, but it has to be said, he found our way to the station in Lyon with very little trouble whatsoever.

The ride from the airport passed


So we've made it to the station got tickets and we are now on the train to Clermont Ferrand, where we should arrive around 2 PM leaving us with the chance to ride for 3 or 4 hours before we find a place to camp for the evening.


Tried to get a photo of the river as we came out of Lyon but wasn't fast enough. And James we've seen quite a few TGV's so far will get a photo of one when I can. And one other thing for James, the train we caught from Lyon was made by Bombardier :)
